Harris v. Trump: Election Day Instagram Posts
As it's Election Day, I wanted to take a look at each candidate's Instagram page and compare the content of their posts.
I'll start by looking at some of Kamala Harris's posts from today. These posts can all be found on her Instagram page @kamalaharris.
I will now look at some of Donald Trump's posts from today. These posts can all be found on his Instagram page @realdonaldtrump.
Discussion
The posts made by Harris seemed to focus mostly on encouraging people to get out and vote and providing people with voter assistance resources. Harris's posts emphasized that voting is a chance for one to have their voice heard. Multiple posts made by Harris mentioned Iwillvote.com which is a website paid for by the DNC with information on how and where to vote as well as links that allow one to check their registration status. Harris also posted a few upbeat, seemingly celebratory posts including a video with her husband which she captioned "Love you, Dougie". It seems that Harris's posts this election day have been focused on ensuring people have the resources and motivation to vote and encouraging people to have an upbeat and positive outlook.
The posts made by Trump seemed to focus mainly on encouraging people to stay in line and vote. One of Trump's posts encourages people to report any issues they have to protectthevote.com/reportfraud. The fact that the majority of Trump's posts remind people to stay in line makes me think that the Trump campaign is concerned that voters will be unlawfully turned away at the polls. Trump's posts this election day have been focused on ensuring no one lets their vote be taken away from them and encouraging voters by saying things like "We are doing GREAT".

I feel as though a lot of the Republican sentiment around this election revolved around voter fraud. On the Republican party's webpage there was even a direct link to help protect the vote. I know it tends to be a thing Republicans focus on but I just find it really interesting how much the focused on it while Democrats didn't even mention it. I also would just like to say I really like how simple and eye catching the posts made by Harris are. I feel like they are much more effective at drawing your attention in to get their point across.
